Dennis

Belinda

There are many beautiful parts to Dennis and her villages. Whenever I drive through Dennisport in the summer, I feel like I am on vacation too!

Numerous rental homes and cottages surrounded by picnic tables and beach towels; vacationers flocking to the wide, sandy beaches with buckets, floats and coolers. Around 4pm the tanned and tousled bathers return to enjoy one of the many restaurants, mini golf sites or shops. Great boating possibilities and wonderful rivers to explore by kayak.

The villages on Route 28 side of Dennis are a fun and affordable place to live. Dennis has a good balance of historic districts and large shopping areas… one of the reasons why the tax rate here is so incredibly low!

Then there is Dennis and East Dennis on the Bayside.

Glorious beaches stretching forever; tree lined streets with majestic antique homes peeping over estate like lawns. Long established tennis clubs, swimming clubs and theatres, art museums and fine restaurants and boutique stores. Stroll through the streets in these areas in the summertime and you will be transported back to a quieter, more leisurely pace of life. It is still possible to find a primary or second home here – you have to look harder!

Ah, Quivet Neck... the first time I ventured off Route 6a to explore, I thought I had returned to an idyllic English village, replacing the statutory duck pond and stone cottage with a picturesque harbor and wooden Captain’s house! The homes here are stunning – I walk or drive around and just drool at the beauty of these antique homes from all different eras. You can even buy fresh farm eggs here in the summer! One particular street is narrow and windy with thick hedgerows – reminds me very much of Yorkshire. Not too much likelihood of running into a herd of cows going home to milk though!
